Blue Eye Anthias
Blue Eye Anthias
The Blue Eye Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis), commonly referred to as the Lyretail Anthias, is a vibrant and active fish known for its electric blue eyes and brilliant orange to reddish-pink coloration. Its flowing lyre-shaped tail and dynamic schooling behavior make it a stunning centerpiece in any reef aquarium.
Reaching a maximum size of 5 inches, the Blue Eye Anthias thrives in tanks of 125 gallons or more, especially when kept in groups. They are best housed as harems, with one dominant male and multiple females, as they can exhibit aggression within their hierarchy.
As planktivores, these anthias require a diet of high-quality frozen or live foods, including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and plankton, supplemented with marine pellets or flakes fed multiple times daily. Their energetic swimming and vivid colors make the Blue Eye Anthias a favorite for adding movement and vibrancy to large reef aquariums.
